Ancient Medicine for Modern Times
My passion for acupuncture stems from personal experience…
My first experience of acupuncture was out of desperation for a sprained ankle, which never seemed to heal. To my surprise, the acupuncturist linked my weak ankle to a chronic problem that I had since birth. After a few treatments, all my symptoms disappeared and have remained this way for nearly 25 years. I was completely converted to acupuncture and continued to receive treatment at regular intervals ever since.
I was so impressed by acupuncture and its potential to help people that I chose to pursue a four-year study course at the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture. Since qualifying, my clinical experience has been extensive from a private practice, running a busy multi-bed clinic and working as part of an integrated health care team at a hospice. I see all types of symptoms and conditions varying from stress and emotional issues, musculo-skeletal pain, side effects from chemotherapy and other cancer therapies and to individuals with just a general feeling of unwellness.
I am a general practitioner, as I like to treat everything. I practice an integrated style of acupuncture incorporating both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Acupuncture.
An acupuncturist’s training is never complete and through continuing professional development education I studied other styles of acupuncture such as Japanese Acupuncture as well a various methods such as the Balance Method and Tung style for pain relief.
I developed a keen interest in women’s health and fertility due to the number of women coming through my door seeking help. This led me to further post graduate studies covering all aspects of women’s health from menstrual problems, fertility support for natural or assisted conception, pregnancy, childbirth and menopause.
It doesn’t matter why a patient comes to see me; it has always been about treating individuals, not just the symptoms. This is one of the things that I really love about acupuncture, how it recognises that each person is unique and so is their illness. Treatment is unique to the individual and focuses on the root cause as well as the symptoms. I have found that this is the most effective way to treat to restore balance and to promote physical and emotional well-being. My patients are a testimony to this, the healing power of acupuncture.
Now? Now… I strive to help, treat, and share that expertise and information with others, so that they can experience for themselves – just how wonderful acupuncture can be.
To health and happiness,
